Qualifications:

• Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Certification - Ward clerks may also function as monitor tech; successful completion of basic dysrhythmia class for monitor tech required within 6 months of acceptance of job.

• Experience:
  • Prior experience in medical position preferred but not required;
  • Previous secretarial experience preferred.
• Additional requirements / comments / education / experience / skills, registration, or certification: BLS

Job Description:

• Performs secretarial and clerical functions for the assigned nursing unit to include:
  • answering phones,
  • answering patient call system,
  • receiving and delivering messages,
  • ordering supplies,
  • supervision of the medical records,
  • transcription of medical orders (with approval by nurse),
  • documentation of vital signs,
  • delivering specimens,
  • paperwork,
  • entering orders into the computer system,
  • placing completed reports on the chart.
